The 2016/2017 Champions League draw for the round of 16 just concluded and we now know every team's fate. There was a lot of talk before the draw about whether it was still beneficial to finish at the top of your group. After seeing the draw there are a few teams who may no longer feel that their hard work during the group stages has paid off.
The ties of the round of 16 will be played over multiple dates in February and March. The 1st legs will take place on February 14-15 and February 21-22. The 2nd legs will be held on March 7-8 and March 14-15.
Manchester City vs AS Monaco FC
Real Madrid vs Napoli
Benfica vs Borussia Dortmund
Bayern Munich vs Arsenal
FC Porto vs Juventus
Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain vs FC Barcelona
Sevilla FC vs Leicester City
Arsenal will feel a bit aggrieved having topped their group for the first time in years they have the pleasure of taking on Bayern Munich. The champions of England will take on the Champions of the Europe League as Leicester City were paired with back-to-back Europa League winners Sevilla. Manchester City will get a chance to show their semi-final run last year was no fluke when they take on Monaco. Monaco has seen a resurgence with the goals of Falcao helping them to some truly impressive results.
Real Madrid certainly received the better of the draw compared with their rivals Barcelona. Real Madrid will be taking on Italian side Napoli with a high level of confidence to advance. Barcelona, on the other hand, will face a big test against PSG.
